Glow Crazy with Hawk Hustle

Individuals and organizations are encouraged to celebrate the wonderful things going on in our public schools as we acknowledge Texas Public Schools Week from February 28–March 4. The Pleasant Grove ISD Education Foundation will host GLOW CRAZY this week to celebrate Pleasant Grove ISD students and staff.

GLOW CRAZY

The sound of shakers, pompoms, and gleeful screams will fill the Pleasant Grove High School Indoor Athletic Facility this week as the Pleasant Grove ISD Education Foundation hosts its annual Hawk Hustle for students in grades K–5 on Friday, March 4. Students will “Glow Crazy for Hawk Hustle” by wearing neon, glow-in-the-dark accessories and their Hawk Hustle t-shirts.

Students will kick off their Hawk Hustle experience by running through the Hawk tunnel with their classmates. Student leaders, Texarkana Gameday, and Pleasant Grove ISD Education Foundation board members will greet students with high fives and cheers. Coach Susan Alford from Margaret Fischer Davis Elementary School and Lucas Wacha from Wacha Resolutions will provide a warm-up, a timed fun run, and various obstacle courses. To finish Hawk Hustle, students will compete in a tug-of-war with other classes from their grade level.

THE WHY

Hawk Hustle was created nine years ago to increase family involvement in the Pleasant Grove ISD Education Foundation and encourage physical fitness. The Pleasant Grove ISD Education Foundation’s mission is to provide opportunities for excellence in education, promote innovation in teaching, and partner with the community to enhance the quality of education for all students. The student fundraising and corporate sponsorships not only help fund Hawk Hustle but provide funds for the surprise Great Grant Giveaway for teachers to be held later in the week. In addition, the funds go toward providing teacher training, a college-preparatory fund at Pleasant Grove High School, a Hawk Pantry at Pleasant Grove High School, and so much more!

THE STATS

The Education Foundation will distribute over $87,000 in their Great Grant Giveaway this week, totaling over $700,000 given back to Pleasant Grove ISD since 2007.

This year, the Hawk Hustle had a record-breaking year in student fundraising and corporate sponsorships raising over $50,000.
