Courage to Love Again

It started off with a few trips to the same store that ended with our greatest purchase—each other’s hearts! I was divorced and Anthony had never married before. We ran into each other several times at a local store and it was not exactly love at first sight, but it was enough to send a Facebook request. For the record, he messaged me first, but thankfully I responded. Maybe our encounters had not been a coincidence. Maybe it was fate. After a few weeks of messaging, we exchanged numbers, and he finally asked me out. Instead of a trip to the store, this time it was a drive to listen to live music. He had paid attention to my love for live music. We had great conversations that led to talking for hours. Despite our 14-year age difference, we wanted the same things out of life. We both had experienced previous rocky relationships, but wanted to give love another try. We dated for three years before he asked me to marry him on Christmas day, in front of friends and family.

We love our blended family. I have two children, Jenice and Terry (Trey) and he has a daughter named Mariya. I am not going to lie; it was scary at first, and it definitely was not peaches and cream. Despite it all, we have worked through our differences, as any family must do. Our last names may be different, but our love for them is the same. We love our munchkins!

Together we have experienced so much in a few years, including trying new hobbies, traveling and buying our first home together. Despite life's obstacles, we have listened to our own voices, our souls and we both had enough courage to love again!
