Log Cabin Love

Set on 25 sprawling acres, complete with a pond, barn, and chicken coop, this true log cabin offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern functionality. Renovated by homeowner and designer Brittany Brooks, the space serves as a sanctuary for her family and a playground for her boys to explore. The cabin’s original log walls and ceiling pay homage to its roots, while thoughtful updates breathe new life into every corner.

Brooks, a nurse turned full-time designer and owner of Seventh Day Design, has been transforming spaces for years, but professionally since 2022. Her personal touch is evident throughout the home, from the custom lighting and cozy vintage finds to bold statement pieces that seamlessly balance the cabin’s nostalgic feel with modern accents. “Each room has its own unique personality, and I love them all for different reasons. I’m especially proud of how the design came together and how my vision was fleshed out,” Brooks shared. The result is a home that feels warm, lived-in, and effortlessly curated—where every detail tells a story.

This is more than just a home—it reflects Brooks’s vision, creativity, and passion, making this log cabin a true family haven.

Fun Facts

“Lighting was a key element in this project. I focused on adding charming fixtures wherever possible and made thoughtful decisions about lighting throughout the space.”

“The light fixture in my living room was custom-made. While much of the home is filled with antiques and reflects an old, nostalgic feel, I wanted a bold, modern statement piece for contrast—and I couldn’t be happier with the result.”

Quotes by Homeowner Brittany Brooks

“The house is filled with antique pieces I collected without a purpose, yet each one found its perfect spot in the cabin. Two of my favorites are a really old antique cabinet in the living room, now home to board games and blankets, and a pair of Ethan Allen brown gingham swivel chairs I discovered at an antique store.”

“In the main area, I wanted to create something that felt old and nostalgic, and I adore the charming, old-school feel. The space isn’t huge, but I think the changes we made really maximized its function and atmosphere.”
“Sherwin Williams on New Boston Road created a custom interior wood stain for us. Finding the perfect shade was a challenge that took plenty of trial and error, but the result was exactly what we envisioned.”
“Before I even purchased the cabin, I thrifted two lampshades with the idea of turning them into pendants. When I started designing the kitchen, I knew they would be perfect over the island. Logan Electric helped transform them into pendants that I love.”
“The downstairs bath stands out to me for its bold transformation—I went dark and moody, and I love the result.”
“I spent a long time searching for vintage oil lamp sconces and finally found the perfect set on Etsy. They now frame the TV above my piano, creating one of my favorite little spots in the cabin.”
