Trei and David Wells Wedding

Q. How did you meet?

A. “We met in 2015 through a mutual friend in Fayetteville, Arkansas! The first time we remember seeing each other is at a Wendy’s in town when David had red dreads and he says it was love at first sight... I didn’t really feel that way. Ha!”

Q. What drew you to each other?

A. “We started off as great friends, hanging out with the same group of people and just getting to know each other. David says he always had eyes for me, but the feeling wasn’t mutual, so we remained friends. To keep a very long story short, David told my mother and grandmother that he was going to marry me in 2017, and I laughed. Little did I know I would fall head over heels for this man less than a year later. He went on a pursuit for my heart. He was patient, understanding, persistent and consistent. He has a heart bigger than anyone I know, is one of the funniest and most creative people I know, and he is simply the greatest man I’ve known. All of that drew me to him!”

Q. Tell us about the proposal.

A. “We were in Kansas for the holidays and my mom put together a gift exchange to happen on December 22 in honor of Christmas and a few family birthdays. Everyone pulled their number for the gift exchange, and we began opening gifts, starting with the person who pulled number 1. Sure enough, I had the very last number. When I opened the box, it had a box of POP tarts, a can of soda POP, a ring POP, a box of POPcorn and few other goodies. Each item had a note on it playing off the word ‘POP’ and at the bottom of the box, there was a note that said, ‘Now it’s time to POP the question.’ After throwing the box over my head in disbelief, I looked over and David was on one knee and asked me to marry him!”

Q. Tell us about your wedding party.

A. “We had a total of 24 bridesmaids and groomsmen! We chose those who meant the most to us, whether they were childhood friends, college friends or people we had met just a few years prior. Each person standing next to us played a huge role in our lives and we couldn’t have imagined our big day without them! We even had a couple of non-traditional roles including a grooms-woman and a brides-man.”

Q. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

A. “The day before the wedding, I was told that we were going to have to start the wedding an hour late because the Best Man, who was deployed, was actually going to make it, but his flight was going to make him late! Little did I know that was not the case. As I’m walking down the aisle, I noticed they were playing a different version of the song I wanted to walk to, only to find out that David arranged for the actual artist, Hollywood Anderson, to come and perform the song LIVE! It was by far my favorite part of the wedding!”

Q. Were there any unique challenges when planning your wedding?

A. “The pandemic made it REALLY hard! We got engaged in December 2019, so by the time we started planning, COVID-19 was here and made it really hard to plan anything at all.”

Q. Did you go on a honeymoon? Where?

A. “Yes! We went to San Diego and Los Angeles and had the times of our lives! We rode horses in the mountains, had a spa day, spent time by the beach and enjoyed lots of really good food.”

Q. What makes your love story special?

A. “It was knit together by God. In our eyes, our love story is special because of the foundation we built and the “old school” way of how we got together. We started off as truly just friends - no ulterior motives or expectations. David was in a pursuit, something many don’t know about today, and I was guarding her heart, maybe a little too much, but guarding it nonetheless. Because of that dynamic and following Christ’s plan, we believe we are right where we need to be!”

Q. What about your life together are you most excited about?

A. “Everything! We are so excited about what the future holds and passionate about helping others in any way that we can, along the way!”
