Sweet, Savory, and Southern-Chic
Crisp bacon wrapped around tender green beans, brushed with a buttery brown-sugar glaze that glistens like Sunday dinner—this dish turns simple ingredients into a restaurant-worthy side perfect for holidays, dinner parties, or your next Bougie Grubs spread.
INGREDIENTS
(makes 6—8 bundles)
1 lb fresh green beans, ends trimmed
6—8 slices of bacon (not thick-cut)
4 Tbsp butter (½ stick)
2 Tbsp brown sugar (light or dark)
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp black pepper
Optional: pinch of salt or cayenne for balance
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment for easy cleanup.
Boil a large pot of salted water. Add beans and cook 3-4 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain and plunge into ice water to keep that gorgeous color. Pat dry.
Make the glaze (the Bougie way)—In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and whisk until smooth, thick, and glossy—about 1-2 minutes. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Remove from heat.
Divide beans into 6-8 mini bundles (about 6-8 beans each). Wrap each with a slice of bacon and place seam-side down on your baking sheet.
Brush each bundle with the warm brown-sugar butter glaze. Bake for 20-25 minutes, basting again halfway through, until the bacon is crisp and caramelized.
Serve Bougie-style—Let bundles rest for 5 minutes. Drizzle any leftover glaze from the pan on top. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig or sprinkle of flaky sea salt for an elegant touch.
Bougie Tip
Serve on a white platter or wooden or marble board, drizzle with a touch of glaze.
