Maud High School Top Ten

Alyssah Snow is Valedictorian of the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. She is the daughter of Karl and Lynda Snow. She is a High-Honor graduate in the Top 10% of her class. She is also a Texas Scholar and a member of ACT’s Silver Award Club. Alyssah also participated in the Maud High School Marching Band throughout high school. Alyssah is an editor for the Maud Cardinal Yearbook. She is a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Alyssah plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing.

Katelynne Carrell is Salutatorian of the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. She is the daughter of Albert and Toni Carrell. She is a High-Honor graduate in the Top 10% of her class. She is also a Texas Scholar and a member of ACT’s Silver Award Club. Katelynne participated in the Maud Lady Cardinal Athletic Program, where she played volleyball and basketball. She also was an editor for the Maud Cardinal Yearbook and a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. She served as Vice-President of her senior class. Katelynne has enlisted into the Arkansas National Guard as a 68W (Combat Medic) and will receive the Arkansas State Tuition Waiver covering 100% of her tuition. She will enroll at the University of Central Arkansas in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology focused on pre-veterinary medicine.

Alyssa Ray graduated third in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. She is the daughter of Jessica and Anthony Diaz and Merle and Jennifer Luster. Alyssa is a High-Honor graduate in the Top 10% of her class. She is also a Texas Scholar. She participated in the Maud Lady Cardinal Athletic Program throughout high school, participating in volleyball, basketball, track, and powerlifting. Alyssa was also the Student Council Historian and was a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Alyssa plans to attend Ouachita Baptist University in the fall to pursue a master’s degree in biology to pursue a career as an occupational therapist.

Emma Fothergill graduated fourth in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. She is the daughter of Cory and Kelly Fothergill. She is a High-Honor graduate. She is also a Texas Scholar. Emma participated in the Maud Cardinal Band program for five years. She was the 2022-23 Drum Major and Band Sweetheart. She advanced to the University Interscholastic League State Competition in Solo & Ensemble. Emma was involved in the University Interscholastic League academic competition for the 2022 and 2023 school year, scoring 1st in Copy Editing both years and 1st in Literary Criticism for the 2023 school year. She has been a member of the Maud Cardinal Yearbook staff for four years and served as the Co-Senior Editor for the 2022-23 school year. She is also a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society.

Ethan Fothergill graduated fifth in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. He is the son of Cory and Kelly Fothergill. He is a High-Honor graduate. Ethan is also a Texas Scholar. He was involved in the University Interscholastic League academic competition for the 2022 and 2023 school year in Spelling, where he advanced to the Regional Meet both years. He is a member of the Maud High School ESPORTS Team and won the Fortnite State Championship in 2022. He is also a member of the ACT Gold Award Club. Ethan plans to attend Southern Arkansas University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in game design.

Devin Myrtle graduated sixth in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. He is the son of Todd and Lisa Myrtle. He is an Honor Graduate and Texas Scholar. Devin was a member of the Maud Cardinal Athletic program throughout high school, where he was the Quarterback of the Maud Cardinal Football team, played baseball, basketball, and golf. He was a member of the District Champion Maud Cardinal Golf Team and was a Regional Qualifier. He is also the Maud Student Council Vice-President and was member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society and Maud Future Farmers of America program, where he competed in several Ag Mechanics Competitions. Devin plans to attend Texas State Technical College to pursue an associate’s degree in electrical line-worker and management technology.

Jaiden Darden graduated seventh in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. She is the daughter of Vickie and Lance McClanahand and Tramel Darden. Jaiden is an Honor Graduate and a Texas Scholar. Jaiden was a member of the Maud Lady Cardinal Athletic Program and was a member of the Maud Cardinal Cheer Program. She was involved in Theatre and was a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. She was also a member of the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and was an editor for the Maud Cardinal Yearbook. Jaiden plans to attend the University of Texas at Arlington in the fall to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Her future plans include becoming a travel nurse.

Evan Acosta graduated eighth in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. He is the son of Antonio Acosta and Rachel and Eric Rivera. He is an Honor Graduate. Evan is also a Texas Scholar. He was a member of the Maud Cardinal Athletic Program throughout high school where he played football and baseball. He was a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. He was the President of the Maud Future Farmers of America Program. He was President of his Senior Class. He plans to attend Texarkana College in the fall to pursue an associate’s degree in electrical technology. His future plans include becoming a master electrician.

Janie Reid graduated ninth in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. She is the daughter of Jason and Jaimie Reid and Kristin and Buster White. She is an Honor Graduate. She is also a Texas Scholar. She was a member of the Maud Lady Cardinal Athletic Program where she played volleyball, basketball, track, and softball. She also participated in powerlifting. She recently represented the Texas Team in the FCA Softball Classic. She was named Good Citizen of the Year for the 2022 and 2023 school years. She was a Senior Representative in the Maud High School Student Council. She was also a member of the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and participated in Theatre. She was a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society and the Maud Future Farmers of America where she competed in several Ag Mechanic events. She served as the Senior Class Treasurer. Janie plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas in the fall to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine. Her future plans include becoming an athletic trainer.

Cyrus Palmore graduated tenth in the 2023 graduating class of Maud High School. He is the son of Katie Collins and the late Cyrus Palmore and the grandson of Thom and Ann Leighton. Cyrus is an Honor Graduate and Texas Scholar. He served the Maud Future Farmers of America as the secretary and competed in several Ag Mechanics competitions. He was also a member of the Maud High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, where he served as Vice-President. Cyrus participated in the Maud Cardinal Athletic program throughout high school, where he played football, baseball, basketball, golf, and ran track. He was a member of the District Champion Maud Cardinal Golf Team and was a Regional Qualifier in the 4X200 relay. Cyrus plans to attend Texas State Technical College to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Line-worker and Management Technology.
