Miss Texas High Pageant 2023

Ellie Breaux, Miss Texas 2023, will be attending the Miss Texas High Pageant this Saturday, September 9th. She will be speaking and performing her talent as well as signing autographs.

Ellie is a Houston native and in 2023 graduated from the University of North Texas, with a degree in Marketing and focus on Fashion. At UNT, Ellie was a part of the North Texas Dancers and served as their Social Chair.

She currently works as a Spokesperson/Brand Ambassador for multiple brands. Additionally, Ellie is a professional model and works consistently with Terry Costa, Sherri Hill, Impeccable Pig, and Landry Kate, to name a few. She has a pet cat named Fendi and is a huge fan of sloths.

As the daughter of a Houston police officer, she has the unique opportunity, as Miss Texas 2023, to engage in bridging communities and police officers to better understand one another. Her goal is for children to perceive police officers as heroes.

She admits she wasn't aware of the community involvement in competing for Miss Texas or ultimately America when she started competing as a freshman in college, but since then, she's received so many opportunities. Breaux decided to return this year to compete and continue promoting her story and community service.

"I am hoping to unify Texas," she said following her crowning. "I come from a family of law enforcement, and there's such a miscommunication between police officers and their communities. And I'm really trying to bridge that gap so we can unify Texas."

Ellie entered her first pageant in 2020 and secured the title of Miss Keller 2020/2021. From there, she competed for the crown of Miss Texas, placing 2nd runner-up and walking away that year with over $9,000 in Scholarships. She is now Miss Texas 2023 and won over $21,000 in scholarships.

This will be the second time a Miss Texas has been a part of the Miss Texas High pageant festivities—Danae Couch, being the last one, in 2014.

Stacy James Mayo, former Miss Texas 2001, has revived the pageant, bringing it back from a several-year absence.

“I hope having Ellie here brings more people to come enjoy what will be a fantastic and entertaining evening,” she says. Mayo also states, “Texas High is so big, and there are so many opportunities it provides. We should definitely have a young woman who is intelligent and well-spoken represent it in title. I hope for her to serve the school and her community.”

The pageant is for any female student 9th-12th grade. Over $2,000 in cash prizes was donated by various sponsors for the contestants who win certain categories. Texas A&M University Texarkana will also be providing a scholarship to the winner. “There will be an interview with five judges, casual wear, and evening wear competitions,” Mayo says. “Talent will be optional and judged separately, so you do not have to perform a talent to win the overall title of Miss Texas High.”

Mayo will also bring back the Tiger Prince and Princess Program. “This is just a fun gathering of boys and girls, ages 4-10, who want to be on stage and perform a little musical number as entertainment. They will also walk the contestants in evening wear and have a photo contest with a cash prize,” states Mayo.

The pageant will be held September 9th at 7:00 pm at the Sullivan Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be $5 and free for Texas High students with an ID.
