When Every Minute Matters

HOMETOWN PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

There are moments in life when you need answers fast, compassionate care, and a team you can trust. For more than a decade, Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital has been that place for families across the Ark-La-Tex, offering full-scale emergency medical care right here in our own backyard.

What began as a visionary idea from a group of local physicians has grown into one of the community's most valued healthcare resources. The concept was straightforward but bold: bring concierge-level emergency care to Texarkana, without the long waits, crowded hallways, and impersonal experience that often accompany traditional hospital emergency rooms. More than ten years later, that vision is still very much alive, and the team is still showing up, around the clock, for the people of this community.

Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital is a proud member of the Nutex Health network, and it operates as a fully licensed emergency facility, not an urgent care clinic. That distinction matters. The center is equipped to handle everything from broken bones and lacerations to chest pain, strokes, and other life-threatening conditions, all within a 20,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility designed with the patient experience in mind. Interiors are warm and welcoming; private patient rooms include flat-screen televisions, and the atmosphere feels more like a calming retreat than a sterile hospital wing. The goal has always been to treat the whole person, not just the ailment.

One of the things that sets Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital apart is the ownership model. The physicians are not simply employees. They are owners. That investment creates a level of personal accountability and attentive care that patients notice from the moment they walk through the door.

Leading the clinical team is Dr. Dallas Bailes, who serves as Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director. Dr. Bailes is joined by a skilled team of emergency physicians, including Dr. Bo Kelley, Dr. Erik Jacobsen, Dr. Kyle Groom, Dr. Dean Bowman, Dr. Shana Spence, and Dr. Arthur Cyrus. Together, they bring deep expertise and a shared commitment to getting patients seen, treated, and on their way home as quickly as possible. Unlike a traditional hospital ER, where wait times can stretch for hours, our team works to provide a faster, more efficient experience from the moment a patient walks through the door. We believe that when something is wrong, time should never be the obstacle standing between a person and their care.

Behind the clinical team is a leadership trio that keeps the entire operation running with purpose and precision.

Brooke Marshall, Director of Marketing, is the voice and vision behind how Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital connects with the community it serves. She works to ensure that residents across the Ark-La-Tex know where to turn when they need care and what to expect upon arrival, bringing the center's mission to life through outreach, relationships, and storytelling.

Kyndel Griffith serves as Chief Nursing Officer, overseeing the nursing staff and setting the standard for patient care from the moment someone walks through the door. Her leadership shapes the culture of compassion and clinical excellence that patients experience throughout their visit, ensuring that every nurse on the floor is equipped, supported, and ready to deliver their very best.

Amy Tankersley, Director of Operations, is the steady hand that keeps all the moving parts aligned. From facilities and staffing to day-to-day workflows, Amy ensures the center operates at the highest level, allowing physicians and nurses to focus on what they do best: caring for people. Her behind-the-scenes work is woven into every smooth, efficient visit a patient has.

Together, Brooke, Kyndel, and Amy represent the kind of dedicated local leadership that turns a great facility into a truly great community resource.

Services at the center span the full spectrum of emergency and clinical needs. Advanced imaging includes CT scans, X-ray, ultrasound, and MRI services, with same-day results available for most tests. The onsite diagnostic lab is both CLIA and COLA-certified, meeting federal and state regulatory standards for accuracy and reliability, and offers a comprehensive panel of testing options with rapid turnaround. For patients who need imaging outside an emergency visit, the center's outpatient services make the process straightforward. Patients can come in 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the team handles pre-authorization directly with insurance companies, often securing same-day approval so care is not delayed. For those who prefer to skip the insurance process altogether, transparent cash-pay rates are available, and, unlike many facilities, those rates are all-inclusive, covering any facility or read fees, so patients know exactly what they will pay before they ever walk through the door. The center also offers pediatric care and occupational medicine, and accepts most major insurance plans, because they believe patients deserve to understand their care without the confusion that so often comes with medical billing.

For over ten years, Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital has stood as a pillar of this community, offering the kind of care that meets people in their most vulnerable moments with skill, speed, and genuine compassion. They are not just a healthcare provider. They are a neighbor, a resource, and a reassuring constant in this region's life.
