Davis-Liles Wedding
Candace + Jordan Liles
How did you meet?
We first met on August 13th, 2023, on a double date to Little River. His best friend was dating my best friend, and they set us up! His best friend was a groomsman in our wedding, and my best friend was my matron of honor.
What drew you to each other?
We were drawn to each other through our personalities, free will, and outgoing natures. We are both the type of people who are down to do anything and have fun doing it.
What happened during the proposal?
After 8 months of dating, Jordan took me back to the Little River, where we first met, and he found the perfect little spot to propose. He also made sure that my dog went with us. I got Bentley back in college; he is a long-haired dachshund and is basically my child, so it meant the world to me that he made sure he was included! We go to the river quite a bit in the summer, so it will be so special to go back to visit the same spot where he proposed!
Who was in your wedding party?
We had seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen! Jordan had his cousin and brother-in-law as his best man, and I had my sister and future sister-in-law as my matrons of honor. My best friend since high school was my maid of honor. My bridesmaids have also been my best friends since high school! We have always been a close group and have continued our friendship into adulthood. We had two flower girls, his niece and my niece, who are almost the same age. Our ring bearer was my nephew. The officiant and his family are great friends of ours and very influential people in our lives. It meant the world to us to have him officiate the wedding!
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
Our favorite part of the wedding, by far, was our private last dance—just the two of us. It was an incredibly special moment, and we felt the most comfortable we had felt the entire wedding.
Were there any unique challenges when planning your wedding?
Balancing planning a wedding and being a first-grade teacher was a challenge, but having our dream wedding come to life was all worth it in the end!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Aruba. We had both never been before, and it was the best experience ever! They called it “one happy island,” and it sure felt that way. The people were so welcoming and friendly. Everywhere we went, they said, “Bon Bini!” Which means “Welcome!” We took a jeep excursion to tour the island; we saw bat caves, rock formations, and the prettiest water ever. We also took a horseback ride tour to the natural pool in Arikok National Park; that was our favorite experience!
What makes your love story special?
We have both experienced our own trials and tribulations but never lost faith in finding our person. God was definitely preparing each of us along the way for each other, and the wait was well worth it!
What about your life together are you most excited about?
We are excited about our adventures and living our everyday life together! We can’t wait to see what the future holds as The Liles!
