More Than a Jewelry Store

HOMETOWN PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

Most jewelry stores sell you something and send you on your way. Crocker's Jewelers has spent more than 40 years doing something different. This Texarkana favorite has been the place where engagements begin, anniversaries are celebrated, and milestones of every kind are marked with something that lasts. It is a store built on relationships, and that distinction has made all the difference.

Founded in 1984, Crocker's has grown from a small local jewelry store into the most-awarded independent jeweler in the Four States. At the center of that growth is owner Shane Woodruff, whose philosophy has always been straightforward. Take care of people first, and the rest will follow.

"Our passion is people," Woodruff says. "Our goal is to build lasting relationships with every customer who walks through our doors."

It is not a line from a brochure. It is a standard the Crocker's team has held themselves to through four decades of business, and the recognition they have earned along the way reflects it.

In 2015, INSTORE Magazine, the leading trade publication for independent jewelry retailers in North America, ranked Crocker's No. 2 in the prestigious "Big Cool" category of its annual America's Coolest Stores competition. Stores are evaluated by a panel of retail experts on business practices, history, online presence, interior design, and curb appeal. Out of 118 entries that year, Crocker's stood out not only for its stunning showroom but for the culture Woodruff and his team have built inside it.

The following year brought an even bigger honor. Crocker's took home the Luxury Retailer of the Year award from Jewelers Circular Keystone, one of the most respected trade organizations in the jewelry industry. The award recognizes jewelers who exemplify a commitment to luxury, excellence, and personal attention. Crocker's beat out entries from major markets, including New York, New Jersey, and Boston, to claim the title, a remarkable achievement for a store rooted in Texarkana.

"We were up against huge markets in this national contest," Woodruff said at the time. "This is a huge deal in our industry."

The accolades have continued closer to home as well. Crocker's has been named Best Jeweler in Four States Living magazine's Best of Texarkana readers' poll 16 times between 2006 and 2025. The store has also earned Reader's Choice recognition in the Texarkana Gazette and the Twice as Nice Award, building a track record that speaks to just how deeply Crocker's has woven itself into the fabric of this community over the years.

Walk through the doors, and it becomes clear why. The 8,000-square-foot freestanding showroom on St. Michael Drive makes an impression before you even step inside, with 15-foot-tall glass mosaics visible from the street and a presence that signals something special is waiting within. Inside, the atmosphere blends elegance with genuine warmth. There is a relaxing fireplace lounge where customers can sit and take their time. There is a children's playroom stocked with books, toys, and games, designed to let parents shop without the stress of keeping little ones entertained. And in a touch that is entirely Crocker's, there is a cold beer on tap served in a signature chilled glass, because Woodruff has always believed that celebrating life's moments should feel exactly like that.

The jewelry itself is exceptional. Crocker's carries a carefully curated selection of bridal and fashion collections from some of the most respected names in the industry, including Gabriel and Co., LAGOS, Kendra Scott, Henri Daussi, Christopher Designs, and Sylvie, among others. The bridal department is particularly strong, with engagement rings and wedding bands spanning a wide range of styles and price points, all presented by a team of knowledgeable diamond consultants who genuinely enjoy helping customers find the right piece.

Beyond the showroom floor, Crocker's offers a full suite of services through their in-house jeweler, including custom design, repairs, remounts, appraisals, watch servicing, and gold buying. Whether someone comes in for a simple battery replacement or a one-of-a-kind custom creation, they receive the same level of care and attention.

That consistency is perhaps what customers speak to most. With a 4.9-star average across more than 1,100 reviews, the numbers reflect what longtime Texarkana residents already know. Crocker's is the kind of place that earns loyalty quietly, through years of showing up and doing right by the people who trust them with their most meaningful purchases.

During the store's 40th anniversary celebration last year, Woodruff reflected on what four decades in business really means. "We are immensely grateful to our customers and the community for the support over the past 40 years," he said. "The wonderful people of Texarkana have made our journey so remarkable."

In a world where so much feels temporary, Crocker's Jewelers is a reminder of what it looks like when a business truly puts down roots. The awards are impressive. The jewelry is beautiful. But what keeps people coming back, generation after generation, is something you cannot put in a display case. It is the people, and the way they make you feel from the moment you walk in the door.
