When she was only 26 years old, New York Magazine named Texarkana native Jessica Haas “the mother of the speed painting movement.” Still, it is more than just her ability to create phenomenal art at high speeds that makes her the impactful person she is today. Haas attributes the support of her family, an encouraging art teacher, and the local pageant system as the catalysts for her success.
Holiday decorating does not get much better than this. From the moment guests arrive at the drive, pumpkins and playful skeletons set the tone for a home where style meets seasonal spirit. Designed with striking architecture and a seamless flow between indoors and out, the house celebrates light and openness. Walls of windows frame wooded views from every room, while the brick exterior and thoughtful layout give it timeless character. … The courtyard, complete with a glowing fire feature, offers an intimate retreat—perfect for gathering on cool fall nights beneath string lights.
Fall Fashion Favorites … Crisp air, cozy layers, and bold colors mark the arrival of fall fashion. Local boutiques are showcasing the latest looks, perfect for everything from pumpkin patch outings to game days and evening events. This season brings scarves in every size and shade, soft suede, western wear, and a touch of equestrian style.
Years ago, one of my favorite annual events in Texarkana was a fundraiser called Party with Picassos, which raised money for the arts. The idea was simple and fun. A local celebrity was paired with a local artist to create a one-of-a-kind piece to be sold in a live auction. I was chosen to participate as a celebrity and created a 4´ x 4´ pop-art portrait of Texarkana’s own Ross Perot. … I had the best time working on the piece, but once it was finished, I still felt like it needed something more.
