The Science of Being Grateful

In a season when we are constantly reminded to be grateful, it is easy to feel the opposite. Many of us end up stressed, overstimulated, or even feeling left out or alone. The rush of Thanksgiving can sometimes overshadow the very things we should be celebrating. A warm meal, a safe place to call home, and family or friends by our side; these are the blessings worth pausing for.

From Bougie Grubs to Brain Upgrader: The Unexpected Journey of Angela Evans

Hey, it’s your favorite foodie friend, Bougie Grubs. But today, I’m not here to tickle your taste buds with mouth-watering recipes. Instead, I want to introduce you to the woman behind the pans: Angela Evans, entrepreneur, marketing guru, and now a certified Neuroscience Coach. … Yes, you read that right—a Brain Training Coach. It may sound like it came out of left field, but trust me, it’s all connected. Let me tell you how. … Back in 2017, life was busy. I was thriving as a Chief Marketing Officer in the medical field, constantly challenging my mind and loving every second of it.

Slowly, one by one, cars and trucks pull into the lot. First, a bagpiper steps out, adjusting his regalia, then several Marines check their rifles and rounds. I watch as they exchange warm, heartfelt hellos and information about the veteran who will be laid to rest.

But here's the real question—how do you eat your chili? … In some households, it's all about the extras. Some pour it over spaghetti noodles, calling it "Cincinnati-style." Others scoop it on top of white rice, load it over a baked potato, or crumble Fritos in the bottom of the bowl before that first ladle hits.
