A message from Red Lick Middle School Valedictorian, Grant Swenson … Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Grant Swenson, and it is an incredible honor to stand before you today. As someone who has experienced my formative years at Red Lick, from kindergarten all the way through 8th grade, I have grown in countless ways. Throughout my time here, I have internalized a range of character traits such as determination, discipline, hard work, and resilience. One Saturday morning, the other AP Art students and I helped Mrs. McVay, the art teacher, display pieces we had worked so hard on all year. We bought cupcakes and went on at least two wild goose chases for ice to put in a bucket with some drinks. Less than ten people showed up, but I got to show my parents around the high school, and I will never forget my mom’s face when I showed her the portrait I had painted of her on her wedding day.
