10th Annual Leadership Texarkana Fall Party

Leadership Texarkana, with the support of the City of Texarkana, Texas, hosted their tenth annual Fall Party at the Texarkana, Texas Convention Center, October 13. The event was held to celebrate the Leadership class of 2020 and the partners and supporters of Leadership Texarkana. There were food trucks on hand to add to the festivity and fun. … At the event, Dr. Mary Ellen Young was named as the 2020 Idalee Raffaelli Hawkins Leader of the Year honoree.

United Way Foundation Golf Tournament

Golfers from the Texarkana community gathered, Tuesday, October 6th, for a golf tournament supporting the United Way Foundation. It was a beautiful day of golf, raising money for an important cause. … The event was hosted at Texarkana Golf Ranch and was organized by members of the tournament committee, including David Mims, Mike Mahone, and Mark Bledsoe.

Chamber EDC Golf Tournament

The Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council hosted an Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Texarkana Country Club. … Texas A&M-Texarkana and Texarkana College were recognized for their recent outstanding efforts to aid in economic development in the Texarkana region. It was noted that TAMUT has started new programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, led an economic development survey in conjunction with the Chamber, and has had a strong COVID-19 reaction that has allowed continued instruction.

2020 Opportunities Golf Tournament

Monday, September 14, the 31st Annual Opportunities Inc. Golf Invitational Tournament was held at Texarkana Country Club. The mission of Opportunities Inc. is to provide developmental and support services to children and adults with disabilities, supporting them in attaining a full life, and encouraging the recognition of the value and abilities of all to our community. … In the past 31 years, Opportunities has raised $2.5 million from this event.

2020 Clay’s Golf & Guitars

Gail & Dr. Ed Eichler started the Clay Eichler Memorial Fund in 2015 following the untimely loss of their son Clay. Each year, the Clay Eichler Memorial Fund raises money through an annual event known as “Clay’s Golf and Guitars” with all profits benefiting worthy local organizations needing financial assistance. The recipients of the funds raised by this event are chosen by their board on a rotating basis. … This year’s event was held August 22 at Northridge Country Club.

Texarkana, Texas Republican Women Reception

The Texarkana, Texas Republican Women hosted a reception for Texas Republican Party Chairman Lt. Col. Allen West on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the Texarkana, Texas Convention Center. Senator Bryan Hughes, Representative Gary Van Deaver and Representative Nominee Pat Fallon were also in attendance.

The Texarkana, Texas Republican Women are members of the local community who believe in the Republican Party and its principles. The members meet on the third Tuesday of selected months and membership dues are $30 annually.


CASA & TCAC Save Jane Event

More than 1,200 children received services through The Children’s Advocacy Center of Texarkana in 2019. The inaugural Texarkana Save Jane virtual event, held August 13, endeavored to take those unspeakable acts against the innocent children of our city, and give voice to them, one name at a time. … The Save Jane child abuse awareness event was launched by Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center in 2019 with the goal of spreading awareness about the magnitude of child abuse, and about the organizations working in the field.

Trinity Christian Annual Sports Banquet

Trinity Christian School held its Annual Sports Banquet on Tuesday, August 3, 2020 in the Trinity Christian Edgar Wallace Gymnasium. TCS athletes were honored for 2019/2020 accomplishments and enjoyed a “look” forward to the 2020/2021 athletic seasons.


Prodigy Yoga Ribbon Cutting

The Texarkana Chamber of Commerce with studio owner Jessica McCarty marked the official grand opening of Prodigy Yoga Studio and Boutique on July 31 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at its 3423 New Boston Road location. Prodigy may not be the only yoga studio in Texarkana, but it endeavors to be a different kind of yoga studio for a different kind of yoga practice. McCarty is a 200-hour Registered YogaFaith Trainer with the Christian Yoga Association. She teaches Christ-centered yoga, which promotes, physical, mental and spiritual health, rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ.
