AR-TX REDI Big Announcements featuring Governor Hutchinson

AR-TX Regional Economic Development Inc. (REDI) celebrated the two big announcements on April 13, 2022, at Texarkana Country Club, featuring Governor Asa Hutchinson and Secretary of Commerce Mike Preston. The announcements included Arkansas Economic Development Commission designating Texarkana an Arkansas Competitive Community—the 8th community in the State to receive this award. REDI Arkansas Manufacturing Center also received Site Certification—performed by the Arkansas Electric Cooperative & Boyette Strategic Advisors.

Farmers Bank & Trust Distinguished Speakers Series with Captain Scott Kelly

The second Farmers Bank Distinguished Speaker Series featuring Captain Scott Kelly was held on April 7, 2022, at the Texarkana Convention Center. The event is designed to raise scholarship money for students who graduate from Texarkana College and The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana and wish to complete their bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University- Texarkana. … This year's event speaker was Captain Scott Kelly, a retired naval test pilot and astronaut who made history by spending more than 340 consecutive days onboard the International Space Station.

Forever Young Grand Opening Celebration

Forever Young at Dermatology Associates held its Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, April 7, 2022. The celebration included food, drinks, consultations, and giveaways. Forever Young is now open at 2011 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas.


Leadership Texarkana Lunch with Leaders 2022

Leadership Texarkana celebrated local excellence in community leadership at their annual Lunch with Leaders at Texarkana, Texas Convention Center on April 19th, with the awarding of the organization’s Leader of The Year Award, as well as honoring community leaders through Leadership Texarkana’s annual Wilbur Awards. The luncheon was sponsored by Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital.

Cornerstone Retirement Community 60th Anniversary

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the entire Cornerstone family gathered to celebrate Methodist Retirement Communities' 60th Anniversary. They rolled out the red carpet for such a special occasion. The day was made complete with fun music, dancing, games, great food, a photo booth, and even a visit from their favorite Elvis impersonator. … Sixty years ago The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church launched this important ministry that would make its way to Texarkana.


Opportunities Inc. Sunday Funday

Opportunities Inc.'s first annual Sunday Funday was held on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Crossties in downtown Texarkana. This event included live music by up-and-coming Nashville star, Lil' Skinny, barbeque from Naamans, and a baggo competition. All proceeds benefitted children and adults with disabilities in our community.


1st Annual Pitch It Texarkana!

The inaugral Pitch It Texarkana! Entrepreneurial Competition was held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Crossties in Downtown Texarkana. The winning entrepreneurs were awarded $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place. The winners of the first-ever Pitch It Texarkana were first place, Jesse Darby-Tillis, Hypecon Events a sports gaming lounge; second place, Ren Overlock, TAGN a ratchet strap tie-downs with custom printed slogan "They Ain't Going Nowhere"; third place went to Brittney Haynes, that is a zero-waste refill store.

Culinary Uncorked 2022

The Pleasant Grove Independent School District Education Foundation hosted its annual Culinary Uncorked "The Best is Yet to Come" fundraiser presented by Farmers Bank & Trust on Friday, March 25, 2022, at the home of Whitney and Vickers Fuqua. The evening consisted of friends, fun, wonderful food by Jeff Loving, live music, and a silent and live auction. All proceeds benefitted the PGISD Education Foundation.


16th Annual Harvest Wine & Jazz

The 16th Annual Wine and Jazz Gala was held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Silvermoon on Broad. This year's event was presented by TEXAR Federal Credit Union and honored Norma Durrant, the founder of the Wine and Jazz Gala. There was live music from Candace Taylor & Trio, a premier silent auction, a live painting by Texarkana artist Joseph Raymond, and expertly selected paired wines with gourmet dishes prepared by local chefs. The Wine and Jazz Gala raised over $50,000 for hunger relief, including an endowment for childhood hunger—The Norma Durrant Childhood Hunger Fund.
