Texarkana Regional Airport- United Airlines Ribbon Cutting

On Sunday, February 13, 2022, the Texarkana Regional Airport held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the inaugural flight with United Airlines to Houston, Texas. The celebration was located at Gate 1 in the terminal building. Airport Director, Paul Mehrlich, United Airlines Executive Vice President/ Chief Customer Officer Toby Enqvist, Texarkana Chamber of Commerce CEO Mike Malone, Texarkana Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman, Texarkana Arkansas Mayor Allen Brown spoke during the ceremony. The community and many other local dignitaries were in attendance for the momentous day.


23rd Annual Bramlett Beans and Cornbread

The 23rd Annual Bramlett Beans and Cornbread was held on December 2 at the Texarkana, Texas Convention Center. With a new location, this event featured beans, cornbread, tea, coffee and dessert. Proceeds from Bramlett Beans and Cornbread provide Christmas food baskets to families in the community. This event allows them to serve over 100 families with food baskets that include a month's worth of food and Christmas gifts.


Opportunities, Inc. Annual Autumn Luncheon

… The Opportunities, Inc. Annual Autumn Luncheon was held on Thursday, November 4th at the home of Judy Morgan. This signature event hosted by the Foundation Board has been held since 1985. … Joan Carter and the late Nancy Sandefur founded the Opportunities, Inc. Foundation Board to raise public awareness about Opportunities, Inc. and its many programs. This event celebrates the ongoing progress of the organization while raising vital funds to support local children and adults with disabilities in our community.

Texarkana College McCulloch Industrial Technology Center Groundbreaking

On November 9, 2021, Texarkana College broke ground on the new McCulloch Industrial Technology Center. The McCulloch Industrial Technology Center will be an estimated $1 million facility that will expand existing workforce programs and offer new technical training programs. The center will provide more than 15,000 square feet of new training facilities for TC’s Electrical Technology program and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC) program.

Courthouse Square Celebration

The Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce and residents celebrated the new courthouse square improvements in Downtown Texarkana on October 29. The celebration consisted of a ribbon-cutting, food trucks, and local high school bands and cheerleaders. Pastor Warren Smith of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church began the ceremony with an invocation and other local officials shared remarks in celebration of another project completed that makes Texarkana, USA even better.


Runnin' WJ 20th Year Anniversary Celebration

On October 19, 2021, a 20th Year Anniversary Celebration Fundraiser for Runnin' WJ Ranch was held at Twisted Fork Grill & Lounge. Express Employment Professional provided a western-style wagon and Clydesdales. Runnin' WJ Ranch is a Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that opened its doors for therapeutic riding classes in September of 2001. The core of the operation is its over 400 volunteers. Runnin' WJ Ranch is a PATH International Premier Accredited Center (www.pathintl.org). Runnin' WJ Ranch is funded by organizations, foundations, and individual donors.


UAHT Groundbreaking

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana broke ground on a new facility at the Texarkana campus on October 7, 2021. The new 14,754 square foot facility will house a welding program, the Secondary Career and Technical Education Center, the Arkansas High Collegiate Academy, and more. “This new facility is a testament to our dedication to higher education in the Texarkana area community and the region as a whole,” said Dr. Christine Holt, UAHT Chancellor.” “UAHT has seen significant growth at the Texarkana campus, which shows that the Texarkana community is committed to us.

16th Annual Edge of Texas Golf Tournament

CASA for Children held their 16th Annual Edge of Texas Golf Tournament on September 27, 20201 at Northridge Country Club. Thirty four teams enjoyed a day of golf while supporting a great cause. All proceeds from the tournament went to benefit CASA and the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center.
