It may still be 137 degrees outside, but 'tis the season for all things back to school. Pencils are sharpened, new backpacks are being unzipped, and good friends are reuniting after summer break. I felt the need to create a back-to-school story from a different perspective, but who could give me that? Students and teachers would be the obvious choice, but I needed a twist. Then, one day, Mary Johnson crossed my mind. Mary, or "Ms. Mary," as she's been known to thousands of students who have roamed the halls of Atlanta Elementary, is the head custodian. She is everywhere all at once.

"The Women" Book Review

I am book nosey. If I see someone reading a book in public, I am determined to find out what they are reading. The other day, I saw a man on a plane reading a book titled something like Russian Literature from the 1700s. You don’t see that one every day, but one I have been noticing in a lot of people’s hands is The Women by Kristin Hannah. Having read this book over the summer, it left an indelible mark on me. I’ve recommended it to readers of all generations and interrupted strangers reading it to ask them their thoughts.

As I pondered my choice of college, my thoughts inevitably drifted to the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT). It wasn't just the college's reputation or the fact that it was close to home and affordable that drew me in, but a deeply personal connection that spanned generations. … My grandmother, Janie Craven, walked the halls of what was then known as Red River Vocational Technical School in 1980. PGMS Pole Vaulter Wins Junior Olympics All-American Honors

A Pleasant Grove Middle School student received top honors at the Junior Olympics in July. Elle Dunlap competed at the United States of America Track and Field Junior Olympics for pole vault and earned fifth place, which got the teen All-American honors. … Dunlap’s father and coach, Rich Dunlap, said the family found an old pole vault pit when Elle was completing third grade. “Pole vault is a progressive sport, so each year she progresses and she gets a little bit better. It’s been fun to watch her grow,” Rich said.
