I remember exactly where I was the day I got a text from my friend, Sarah Cooper, that Heritage Home Health & Hospice had created a new job position, the first of its kind. She thought I would be perfect for the job. You rock, Sarah! She told me I should apply for the job as soon as possible, but I was nervous. Up until this point, I had only worked retail jobs. What the heck did I know about home health or hospice? It was 2020, and I felt pretty lost at the time, just wandering aimlessly through life. I was trying to find some solid footing.

National Read a Book Day: What Are You Reading?

Happy National Read A Book Day! … One of my favorite questions to ask anyone I encounter is, "what are you reading?" Alternatively, it is one of my favorite questions to answer as well. Most of the time, I have an audiobook going and a book in hand. Currently: listening to Present Over Perfect by Shauna Neiquist and reading The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L.Walther. … It is no secret that I listen to most of the books I read. I heard an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman that completely shifted my mindset.

Update: I still cannot manage my money, but I made it a solid year on my own and enjoyed every second of it. … I want to let you in on a little secret.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

When a book comes into my orbit multiple times, I embrace it as a sign of destiny. My choice for the August book review was like that. It popped up in a few Instagram stories from fellow book lovers and then directly in a text from a good friend who knows my taste. Doesn't it feel good to be known? In an effort to keep things fresh, I posted on my social media that I would be reviewing this book and invited my friends to read along. … The book is Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, and it turned out to be exactly the book I had been searching for all summer.

There's Always Something Too Good To Read

I write this article from my hotel room overlooking midtown Manhattan with Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building an arm's length away. The juxtaposition to Carrie Bradshaw fuels my creativity and spurs nostalgia deep in my soul. What a 2004 pipe dream. "You can't leave New York! You're the Chrysler Building!" —Carrie Bradshaw … Some months, I crank a book review piece out effortlessly and early. Other times, I wait for inspiration to arrive, and it did in the form of a spontaneous trip to New York City. Do you know when the stars align and everything falls into place perfectly?

Friday Night Lights 2022
