Making Every Mile Matter for Haven Homes

At Haven Homes, every mile matters—because every story matters. Just ask Trent Lipps, a Haven Homes graduate whose life is now a testament to God’s redemptive grace. … “I grew up in a broken home with the most loving mother anyone could ask for, but an absent father. That void led me down a path of destructive choices—drugs, violence, arrests, and years spent cycling through jails and prisons. But God had another plan. Through the Haven Homes Recovery Program, I met Jesus Christ. His love broke through my hardened heart.

From Dreamer to CEO: How UAHT Changed My Life

When I first approached the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) as a nontraditional student, I was filled with uncertainty. I was immediately met with compassion, support, and a clear path forward. From day one, UAHT believed in my potential, even before I fully believed in myself. … I arrived as an unemployed single mother, unsure how I'd provide for my children or pay for college.

Degree of Determination: Genoa Woman on a Mission to Put Teens in Focus

Raising Kids Beyond Screens

Excess screen time harms children and adolescents’ social skills, but it also affects their behavior similarly to dementia, presenting as distractibility and memory deficit. To help combat this, an extension expert says parents should limit screen time, encourage children’s off-screen interests, and closely monitor online activities. … For parents who want to limit their children's screen time, it's important to first be on the same page about what rules or restrictions to put in place. … Brittney Schrick

Genoa Central High School 2025 Top Ten

… Grace Ashmore (Valedictorian) • My favorite high school memory is definitely the high school art show my junior year. One Saturday morning, the other AP Art students and I helped Mrs. McVay, the art teacher, display pieces we had worked so hard on all year. We bought cupcakes and went on at least two wild goose chases for ice to put in a bucket with some drinks. Less than ten people showed up, but I got to show my parents around the high school, and I will never forget my mom’s face when I showed her the portrait I had painted of her on her wedding day.

The Love Around Us … A message from Genoa Central High School Valedictorian, Grace Ashmore … Friends, family, faculty, and fellow graduates, good evening. I am honored to be speaking tonight, and I would not be here without the support of many of the people I see in front of me. Throughout this elementary, middle, and now high school journey, I have been loved. We have been loved by our friends and our families, our mothers and our fathers, our sisters and our brothers. But we have also been loved in smaller ways—quieter ways, throughout our lives as students in the public school system.
